#wwbsiwishlist4thround finalist @maddiegardella about her ballet journey : Throughout my childhood, I was known as "that kid that did everything". You know the one that tried every single sport and activity imaginable. Yup, that was me. I tried lacrosse, swimming, gymnastics, ice skating, soccer, basketball, and track. It had never once crossed my mind to try dancing, let alone doing ballet. But, in preschool, one of my friends was going to be starting dance classes once or twice a week. She wanted to have a friend in the class so she asked me to come along. Being the one that tried everything, I agreed. I ended up loving it! The next year my family moved away to a different state to I had to find a new place to dance. I started off at a very small local studio, but after an ankle injury because of lacrosse, I had to take about 6 months off of dancing. I ended up switching to a competition studio called The Dance Academy. At that point I decided that all I wanted to do was dance. No more distractions. I joined the competition team, and had a blast. Over my first two years on the team, I was starting to learn that ballet was my favorite way to move. In 2009 I wanted to go to a summer intensive. Since I was pretty young at the time, I didn't want to go very far away or be gone for very long. I discovered the Rock School and decided to audition. I got in and went that summer for 2 weeks. They even put me en pointe! The following year I wanted to do more ballet, but still do competitions. So I went to the Rock School two days a week, and my competition studio 3 days a week. The following year, I bumped up to 3 days a week at Rock and 2 at The Dance Academy. After that, I decided that I wanted to be fully committed to ballet. I didn't want to compete anymore. Ballet was what I loved, not winning trophies. I switched to the full time program at the Rock School, and I have been here ever since. Remember ! 1 like = 1 vote! ❤️?? #maddiegardella
