Hello fellow bunheads! My name is Natalie Barbis and I am 18 years old. I am currently training at the Akademie des Tanzes in Mannheim, Germany! I have tried almost every brand of pointe shoes under the sun and currently I am wearing Freed Studio Professional! I love the elongated line they create when I am on pointe. My favourite leotard brand would have to be Yumiko, followed by Energetiks, which is an Australian brand of dancewear. I am originally from Australia and last year moved to Germany to pursue my dreams of becoming a professional ballerina. This summer I am excited to be attending the International Summer School in Amsterdam held by the National Ballet Academy.

Something you may not know about me is that even thought I started ballet when I was 7, I didn't start "full-time" training until I was 16. Some people may think that is very old but even though I had a lot of natural ability it was extremely difficult for me to convince my parents that I was capable of making a career out of ballet but now I am studying for my Bachelors in Dance! I know it's a cliché but I just wanted to say to everyone, fight for what you believe in. Never let someone tell you otherwise. Be who you want to be. Decide your own future and no matter how big or small your dream may be or how old or young you may be, never give up on your dreams and what you believe in!
