This is my 14 yr old little sister, Alliy (the light of my life). Today was a Day Of Silence, a day dedicated to remembering LGBTs who have committed suicide because of bullying and harassment based on their sexual orientation. Alliy wore this tape over her mouth today, and a sign that said "Help Me Support". When she got to school, her principal called her into his office, made her remove the tape, and called our parents threatening to punish her for being "an interruption to the education system". An Interruption.... of Silence. After all this, Alliy still refused to speak, responding to the principals questions with hand gestures, refusing to step down from her passionate beliefs against cruelty and discrimination. In a few hours, Alliy will have gone 24 hours without speaking a single word. What an brave, inspiring little girl, to stand up for her beliefs even when being bullied for acting out against bullying. The world needs more people like my little Alliy. I'd love for you guys to share this story - I hope it inspires you the way it has inspired me. :') <3 <3 <3
