A Loba man of Mustang near the border of #tibet stares back at my camera with hard worn and hard won intensity. Mustang was once a bustling thoroughfare of trade connecting the #indian subcontinent with the #tibetan plateau and is thought to be a largely overlooked vein of the #SilkRoad. Shot on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック with @ザ・ノースフェイス expedition leader #peteathans and climbers @mattsegal and @cedarwright The expedition used climbing techniques to access ancient cliff side caves holding prehistoric human remains...offering up clues to the deeper stories of human migration thousands of years ago and perhaps giving a glimpse at the ancestry of the Loba people. @thephotosociety @natgeocreative
