#TBT The Guggenheim recently processed records from all of its 1989 exhibitions, including Mario Merz’s retrospective. Invoices found from this exhibition certainly made us wonder, “What was that for?” There are invoices for 1 mounted zebra head, 2 ankole horns, 120 bundles of newspaper, 1 alligator (“real skin over Styrofoam body”), 100 bales of tall birch, and an estimate for hoisting and lowering a motorcycle in the museum rotunda.
