For so many years you have been the inspiration for so many young athletes to try to achieve greatness including myself. Not only have you captivated the hearts of all baseball lovers around the world with your flawless execution and your remarkable style of play on the field but you have also earned everyone's respect by being a class act off the field. You have been a great player, a great friend and a great mentor to us all and it makes me very proud to have played against you in this league it is truly an honor. I worked a little bit harder before each of our encounters because I knew that playing against you, good was just not good enough and for that I can say thank you for helping me elevate the standards of my game by setting the bar a little bit higher each and every single time. Before you retire I just want you to know that I truly appreciate everything that you represent to this game of baseball as a phenomenal player and the great human being that you are.
