In the village of Lenino, west of the Ukrainian capital #Kiev, sculptor Vlad Volosenko has plans to replace the fallen monument of Vladimir Lenin with that of a 19th century Ukrainian poet, Taras Shevchenko, who is credited with founding modern Ukrainian literature. Volosenko is a local sculptor but he has had his work displayed around the world. Anti-Moscow activists say they have toppled around 100 statues of #Lenin around the country in a display of defiance.
