Ultra Music Festival is proud to present Empire of the Sun. An electronic music duo from Sydney, Australia, whose music has reached the ears of listeners around the world, their "name comes more from the idea of (and you'll see this in the ongoing videos) the fact that we're traveling around the world going to all the places of empires of the civilization where the sun has been a theme of worship." And what better place to travel than the beautiful city of Miami to perform on the Live Stage at Ultra 2014! Formed in 2007, Empire of the Sun consists of Luke Steele of alt-rock group The Sleepy Jackon, and Nick Littlemore of electronic dance act Pnau. After several months of recording, the duo burst onto the scene in 2008 with their debut album 'Walking On A Dream'. Featuring mega-hits "We Are The People", "Standing On the Shore", and the title track "Walking on a Dream", the album was met with critical acclaim, landing Empire of the Sun on the radar of rock and electronic listeners alike. Subsequent remixes from the likes of Kaskade, Subfocus, Pryda, Axwell and more, saw that their catchy vocals would resonate in clubs across the globe. In June of 2013, Empire of the Sun released their 2nd album, 'Ice on the Dune'. Featuring elements of rock, disco, and pop, the album fuses acoustic, organic sounds with upbeat electronic synths and bass lines to create music that defies genres. Their lead single "Alive" achieved massive success, reaching #1 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs in the US, and received remix treatments from dance music heavyweights Zedd, David Guetta, and Mat Zo. Backed by a full band, Empire of the Sun are poised to bring a high-energy, cinematic experience to the Live Stage. Catch them underneath the radiant Miami Sun this March!
