Start with facing the camera downwards (or behind your back), click the shutter, toss a treat. Repeat until your dog associates the sound of shutter with treats. Then face the camera slightly towards your dog while resting it against your chest (or your thighs) so that he can still see your face. Click and toss the treats over and over. Gradually face the camera more towards your dog and move it closer to your face so that you can eventually look through the camera. Some dogs are more afraid when your face is covered with the big black device. You can also start with a smaller camera. This is called counter conditioning. You are changing the way your dog feels about something by pairing up with something your dog loves.
