2 hours and counting. To vote for Paul Rodriguez or any of the other #Populist nominees go to theberrics.com/populist. One of the most popular skateboarders in history, @prod84 has been helping expand what the modern skateboarder is capable of for years, and 2013 was no different. Although he didn’t come out with a major video part this year, there is no denying Paul wasn’t busy or didn’t have an impact in the way that skateboarding is seen and heard in 2013. He started out the beginning of the year with his LIFE series, showing who he was a person as well as his commitment to skateboarding, family, and progression. He put out a Bangin' in April, and placed 2nd in BATB 6. He worked with big brands such as Nike, Target and Mtn Dew to create inspiring projects that would make any skateboarder proud, garnishing millions of views and showing tricks like front feeble varial heel out on a rail, switch back tail bigger spins on picnic tables, and switch flip back tail varial heel out. He released his Nike SB Prod 7 pro model and switch hard flipped a triple set in its subsequent Skate Safari marketing campaign. He placed 4th in Tampa and skated in every Street League this year, placing 1st in Portland, 2nd in Munich, 3rd in KC, 4th in new Jersey, 5th in LA, and 2nd overall. He left Plan B to go sponsorless then released a limited edition run of his blank gold boards and sold them out in under 1 minute, which has got to be some kind of record. And on top of all that, he puts out full clip Fridays and some of the most mind-blowing content on his Instagram and YouTube accounts of any skater alive. P-rod has definitely taken 2013 his own way and for that he cannot be denied a spot on our list.
