Morning #London! We’ve just been reflecting back to #NYE #2014. It came and went so fast. But what a ride! Were you there? What was your favourite moment? ••••••••••••••••••• It’s interesting to read the feedback from people all over the world. People have looked in on London’s display as being seriously innovative, whereas other countries have in the most part repeated the same formula as previous years gone by. Except maybe Dubai with their Burj Khalifa tower at the heart of their celebration – they managed to throw more than half a million fireworks out the door in less than 6 minutes, breaking a world record! ? ••••••••••••••••••• But make no mistake, London can be proud of its celebrations. In partnership with @vodafonefirsts and @bompasandparr it also achieved a world #first by putting on the world’s first multi-sensory firework experience, and the 250,000 people that lined the #Thames had an amazing time. People in key viewing areas by the Thames were given packs featuring scratch 'n' sniff programmes and LED wristbands that were synchronised to the display. They also had seven kinds of fruit-flavoured sweets that linked to the tastes and smells of the multi-sensory display. ••••••••••••••••••• William Shakespeare once wrote, "All the world's a stage". And Boris Johnson, Mayor of London said reflecting on London and the world stage “Watched by millions around the world, and hundreds of thousands of people from the banks of the Thames, it highlights our capital's fantastic community spirit and its premier position on the global stage”. It’s true, the one thing that separates London from the rest of the world, is it’s people – the #Londoners. Their spirit was incredible! They loved and laughed, cheered and partied the night away to great music and the atmosphere on the Thames was electric. And @LONDON was proud to be a part of it. ❤️
