When planning my wedding 6 years ago, I had my heart set on wearing adress designed by an Asian couturier. After much research, I discovered the first ever Asia Bridal Summit in Tokyo founded by designer, Yumi Katsura. I became a fan of her youthful, spirited pieces, that continued to impress me last year @fidefashionweeks when I witnessed her genetically engineered silkworm fabrics used to create glow in the dark gowns.
Just when I thought I couldn't love her more, this year after her finale runway show, @YKcouture took her bow, then walked down the long runway to shake the hands of every single guest attending. Every single hand. With eye contact and Japanese words of thanks. I hereby proclaim that Yumi Katsura is mai female role model of the year. Style is in the name, humility is the game.
