#BalsaBoard shaped by #AlMerrick. Al made this for me in '97 as a gift just after I won my 5th World Title. It's hollow and has something loose floating around inside it. Al said I'd only ever find out what it is if I break it open. I've only ridden a single wave on this board...in Cocoa Beach on a really cold (by FL standards), windy, rainy day, in a pair of trunks on February 13th, 1998, the one year anniversary of #ToddChesser's passing. 'Cheese' (as we called him) and I were injured one winter and rehabbing in CA so we decided to go for a swim and bodysurf in trunks in really cold water so my one wave on it was a sort of homage to Todd. On the tail is a sticker we had made in his honor. This is the most beautiful surfboard I have.
