Approx 180,000 black soldiers, "U.S. Colored Troops," served our country for the 1st time, fighting to end slavery during the Civil War. They received little to no recognition. In fact, many lay buried in un-marked graves. Historians are still fighting for Memorials to recognize "USCT" soldiers. Cheers to the fallen black soldiers of America.
