Sometimes I ask myself why I spend so many hours clicking on the links people send me. It really only happens when it's 3 or 4am and the emotions start running high due to lack of sleep. My mind wanders and I start asking myself, "Shouldn't you be fucking skating? No one else is doing this. This doesn't make money. Can't an intern watch these? Can't someone else do it? You have important shit to do, like skate for one and run this whole business for another. What are you thinking? Does this really change anything?" - My only answers are this. Yes, I should be skating. No, no one else is doing this so that's why I must. No, it doesn't make us any money. No, an intern can't watch these because we don't have any which means no one else can do it. Yes, I do have important shit to do, and this is part of that shit. What I'm thinking is that I wish when I was a kid or when I made videos that someone like what I grew up to be would have watched them and given me a little encouragement. Now, that may be giving myself a little too much credit for what I've become, because, frankly, I'm not sure what I've been turning into the last five years while running this thing but I do know that whatever it is, it's definitely changed things and I hope that even the mere mention of someone's video in this section week after week gives someone that spark, that validation that gives them the idea to keep going and keep doing this. If it doesn't, then I can only hope we do this enough to where someday it does, then the goal will have been achieved. - sb
