There is steam curling around me as I type this. A hot bath, windows open to the perpetual winter... I was so thankful today for the transformed landscape. No spring flowers, that's for sure, but to be forced to see the same thing new? It's important, I think. And even when nature doesn't comply, we can do things on our own to transform our perspectives. Take the long way home. Rise an hour early. Journey with a new companion. Commit to photographing an old subject from a new angle. The list goes on. I believe so fiercely in appreciating the beauty that's right under your nose. And it's there, I swear. Trust me: when I'm with a family member or a non-Instagrammy friend, I get the strangest looks when I point my phone at something. "WHAT could possibly be interesting about that??" is a common question. And then I post the photo here and the overwhelming response is, "Ohhhh I wish I lived in such a beautiful place."
