The Bell from 1994. I snuck thru the semi-final against #Kong on a wave he passed up w/priority. I made the final with @mrpottz. We both fell on everything in that heat. My brother, @skippyslater, was there with me. He was 15 and in his first year or two of surfing. We surfed Bird Rock after the event ended that day and I showed him how to drive a car on a dirt road by what is now The Sands golf course. The surf was firing that year. It took me a long time to wrap my head around how to approach and surf Bells and I finally got my 2nd win 12 yrs later. When I got on stage and shook this bell, it fell off its hinge as hit me in the head. They've since locked them in place. My old roommate, Stretch Cooper, had his dad shine this one for me a few times over the years and it still looks nice. Good memories.
