In February 2012, the U.S. Department of State announced a global effort to engage women and girls through sports. The Empowering Women and Girls Through Sports Initiative aims to increase the number of women and girls worldwide who are involved in sports. As a Council Member, I serve as a Sports Envoy, traveling overseas to elevate the global conversation on sports as a means of empowerment. My first assignment took place today in London, England. It was such a success!
