After just having our second baby, I need well-designed things that make my life easier. And I really like to set the tone for the day with my morning coffee routine before getting to work. So I picked up the @option_o.coffee Lagom P64 coffee grinder and gave it a test drive. My initial thoughts:

-It feels incredible to use. Great engineering. The glide of the dials, the way it all clicks together. It really adds to the sensory experience of making good coffee. Everything is well thought-out. It works and cleans quickly and doesn’t get in my way.

-It’s QUIET. This is huge for me since I have two kids who I’d prefer not to wake up if I need to make coffee early before going to work.

-This is probably the biggest, but it makes amazing coffee. My old grinder was tricky and gave all my espresso drinks a bitter taste. The first drink I made out of the P64 was a massive improvement, right out of the box. That was a really pleasant surprise.

-It actually comes ready to use, all cleaned and tested. Super easy.

-My only critique is the amount of coffee I went through getting it perfectly dialed in. It’s really easy to make great coffee, but there’s definitely a learning curve to making INCREDIBLE coffee. There isn’t really a guide so you just have to kind of experiment to get it just right, which means going through a lot of beans at first. I wasn’t sure where the sweet spot for espresso was and was actually grinding everything too finely at first. But once you understand the grind size on the dial, you’re good to go.

Overall, I’m really happy with the P64. It’s earned a place on my countertop and I’m as caffeinated as any new parent should be. And I may have had a little too much fun photographing it.
