This day, Dec 17, those that care come together to love and support, memorialize those that passed, call attention to the issues and offer easy and common sense solutions to fix the problems. Every family has had some kind of sex worker in their lineage. Serial killers pray on sex workers because they can be vulnerable and they think society doesn’t care about them. (Ironically the rescue industry that says it cares doesn’t join us on #idtevasw because it’s led by sex workers.) Today we say we do care! It’s a bittersweet day. Abolition and criminalizing something that’s totally legal when no money or goods are exchanged is a way of keeping powerful, wise, great, creative, etc trans people, women and men down. The government, lawyers and the rescue industry people make money off sex workers backs. Sex workers offer a lot of benefits to society. I know that for a fact. Lots and lots of years I have witnessed that. Tell a sex worker you care, donate a few bucks to sex worker run orgs if you can. ( I recommend Old Pros Network.) light a candle for those who suffered and died due to stigma, bad laws, serial killers … I am sending gratitude and love to all sex workers and those that care about them. May their enemies see the light and our humanity. Lots of very desperate people who don’t want to do sex work (in war zones, due to extreme poverty, refugees who have nothing) really need support to have alternative options to survive. I especially send love today to those who desperately need food for themselves and their children, and medicine and shoes… that have no other options. The stigma alone makes their survival harder.
