Almost 1.9 million people have been displaced across the Gaza Strip, the U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees said on Monday.
The Israeli military announced it was expanding its ground assault to all of the Gaza Strip, following the collapse of a truce deal with Hamas.
Israel's push into southern Gaza will raise new fears for the masses of civilians crowded into the area after fleeing bombardment and battles in northern Gaza at Israel's urging. It is now warning residents to evacuate specific neighborhoods, but Gazans say there is no guaranteed safe place to go.
