Credit to @lordrarerock WE’RE STILL MISSING YOU BECK - Good friends Jeff and Jimmy Page performing “Immigrant Song.” Jeff Beck, born June 24 1944, in Surrey, England, was a virtuoso guitarist who shook up up the music scene in a major way and influenced countless musicians who came after him. Beck rose to fame in the 60s when he replaced Eric Clapton in The Yardbirds. He left a year later to start his own group, The Jeff Beck Group, with Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood. Beck was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice for his work with The Yardbirds and his own group. Jeff was one of the most influential guitarists to ever live and many recognize him as one of the greatest. Rolling Stone had him ranked 5th in their list of top 100 guitarists ever.

Even though this isn’t Beck’s song, this clip was chosen because Jeff and Jimmy Page had a special connection and were very close friends. It’s just awesome to see how much they’re enjoying this performance. Initially, The Yardbirds asked Page to join them, but he turned them down and instead recommended his good friend, Beck, to join the group. When The Yardbirds signed a new record deal, Beck gave his thanks to Page for changing his life. “I’m still living with my parents at the time in Epsom and I hear this car roll up,” Page said. “I looked out the window and I saw a Corvette Stingray outside.” Beck got out and presented Page with a Fender Telecaster and told him, “This is yours for getting me in the Yardbirds.” That Tele would go on to become the infamous dragon Telecaster.

Although Jeff is no longer with us physically on this earth, his gift to the world will always remain and continue to influence countless musicians. Jeff, thank you for everything you did, the world of music is much better because of you. We will miss you. Enjoy
