Hyunki Park's first encounters with "doltap" occurred during the Korean War, when his family fled southward. The young Park saw the stone piles left by other refugees who had taken the same route, interpreting them as symbols of peace. Here, Park interrogates the technophilia of the postwar era of South Korea and the Park Chung Hee administration’s ambitions for accelerated modernization.
