What happens when salmon take the witness stand? In a recent lawsuit, the Sauk-Suiattle Tribe sued the city of Seattle on behalf of Skagit River salmon, seeking acknowledgement that the city’s three hydropower dams on the river infringed upon the fish’s “inherent rights to exist, flourish, regenerate … and the right of access to their ancestral waters.”
