Standing at about 2,462 meters (8,077 feet) tall, it’s often referred to as the “perfect cone” due to its symmetrical shape. This stratovolcano is also one of the most active in the Philippines, having erupted over 50 times in the past 400 years. Its most destructive eruption occurred in 1814, devastating nearby towns and burying the town of Cagsawa. Despite its danger, Mayon’s majestic appearance and frequent activity make it a popular spot for tourists and a significant symbol in Philippine culture.
