Florals for spring are expected, but #Balmain gave a take that was both whimsical and subversive. Taking inspiration from 50s shapes — the circle skirt, the bullet bra, the sweetheart neckline — the clothes veered sideways, giving us a black PVC miniskirts, oversized roses that almost hid the clothes underneath, and exaggerated, almost restrictive corset shapes. The collection was stunning, and highly imaginative.
