I had all these big plans for my 50th birthday week where I’d get some solitude, and the chance to reflect. None of it happened. Both of my kids got sick, my wife’s car was in the shop and I got hammered by work. Today is just like every other day- running, writing, family time. And it dawned on me- I got exactly what I wanted in this life. So if you see me this year, and I’m hanging my head, please remind me (after letting me complain for a beat), all my dreams came true: my beloved boys Sonny and Hopper, my beautiful wife Emily, a life free from drugs and alcohol and so many friends that I love and covet- this is what matters most.
