Since I cut it for our @lorealpro campaign in 2021 I’ve had so many people reach out not only inspired to change their look - but surprisingly, many women in different stages of cancer speak on how such a small thing I have done (change my hair) has helped them change the perception of themselves and given them confidence in their short hair.. which, I have never had cancer and I can’t even begin to image how challenging that journey is and many of your dms have bought me to tears. I’ve also had many write extremely judgmental and hateful things publicly and in my dms. HOWEVER.. no matter what is written or the opinion — I hope I can always contribute positively to beauty standards, because if I can make someone’s perspective on their appearance better, that will always outweigh the negative and nasty things that are written about or to me. Challenging those beauty standards will always be important because it dismantles the toxic notion that worth is solely defined by our appearance - I may get old, my looks may fade, but I will go out knowing that I have a good heart and I helped make at least one persons outlook of themselves better - not worse as some aim to achieve. True beauty in my eyes is having the strength to be unapologetically yourself, irrespective of what is expected by society.
