Repost• @alexanderfury A bunch of amazing (and, in some cases, slightly forgotten) London fashion moments from the 1990s that have been on my mind for a few weeks, as I grew up loving these designers. And their work still stands the test of time. Remember Owen Gaster? Remember the amazing Antonio Berardi Brixton Academy show with his name in lights and Kate Moss in cowboy drag?! Remember the Andrew Groves ‘fly’ jacket worn by Georgina Cooper - so-called because it was filled with live (and dead) flies that erupted out over the (very unamused) audience when she ripped it open. The show was called ‘Status?’ and the idea was that she looked beautiful outside, but there was something rotting within. Apocryphally, Cooper vomited after she left the catwalk. Also included - one of my favourites, Deborah Milner, with her film-slide skirt photographed by Sean Ellis and styled by Isabella Blow for The Face. Her clothes for Philip Treacy’s catwalk shows (including this incredible haemoglobin-red fur and velvet coat from 1997) were some of the absolute best. And Philip Treacy shows deserve a post all their own. But seriously if you haven’t seen the Berardi Spring/Summer 1998 show, YouTube it, it’s phenomenal. Oh and McQueen and Chalayan because they can’t not be in here, I’m not that stupid and wilfully obscure.
