@ブリトニー・スピアーズ discovered the #FreeBritney movement in late 2018, when she was being made to spend more than three months at a Beverly Hills rehab facility. During that stint, she writes in her upcoming tell-all memoir The Woman in Me, she was prescribed lithium and allowed only an hour of television before a 9:00 p.m. bedtime.

“They kept me locked up against my will for months,” she says. “I couldn’t go outside. I couldn’t drive a car. I had to give blood weekly. I couldn’t take a bath in private. I couldn’t shut the door to my room.”

So, Spears says, when she discovered the viral movement, “That was the most amazing thing I’d ever seen in my life.”
