It’s been a RUFF week for Barney. It all started last Monday evening when he tried to jump on the couch. Something he has done so easily a million times before. Barney let out a loud “YELP” and immediately lost most of the function of his back legs. Struggling to walk, dragging across the floor in a hunched position. We knew something was terribly wrong.

We have been to the ER and now the Neurologist in the last 48 hours. He has actually slightly improved thanks to the steroids, pain meds, and crate rest. If we can get him through this flare up we can hopefully avoid surgery 🙏🏻

Today he is having gastric issues and not wanting to eat. Praying by the morning he will feel better and want to eat again.
It’s breaking our hearts to see him so uncomfortable.

We never thought this could happen to us?! He’s 3 years old and so muscular, strong, and agile. He is so active and was the picture of health, but this is what IVDD does. It sneaks in when you least expect it, and so now we will learn how to fight this together.

So grateful for FURiends like @winstonthefrenchiee_ who immediately shared support and guidance to Mama. We are BLESSED by everyone’s well wishes and prayers. He is feeling your love surrounding him ❤️

6 to 8 Weeks of crate rest is not going to be easy for Barney, who is so social and loves his daily adventures. It is so hard to see him not feeling himself. Just want our bright eyed playful Boy back again🙏🏻❤️‍🩹🐾
