"As It Lays 2” is the second season of “As It Lays," a DIY talk show in which a deadpan Israel interviews celebrities about their everyday lives and routines as a form of portraiture. Describing the work in an essay published on "Gagosian Quarterly, cultural critic Sean Monahan writes: "In its second season, from 2019, the "As It Lays" set mirrors the luxe aesthetic of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" (2010–): white roses, white latticework formed into arches in the lush shade of a Spanish-style tiled courtyard, decontextualized pseudo-European railings and moldings."
