Just one single was issued from the album in the UK, a version of The McCoys’ Sorrow, which later enjoyed wider recognition via The Mersey’s rendition. Bowie’s superb stab at the song reached #3 in the UK and it also gave him his first #1 anywhere in the world when it hit the top spot in Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. Following mono adverts of the Pin Ups sleeve advertising Sorrow in this week’s music press fifty years ago, variations of our main image (taken by @therealmickrock) were used in the promotion of Sorrow, as you can see from the second slide, including three UK versions of the sheet music.
