Since the huge protests in Oslo earlier this year got worldwide attention and led to an admission and apology from the Norwegian Government, there has been nothing but silence from the responsible ministers. 11.october started a new huge protest for indigenous rights in Oslo (Norway), two years after the Norwegian Supreme court ruled that the windfarm on Fosen is violating the human rights. We need renewable energy to solve the climate crisis, but indigenous peoples have sacrificed enough in the face of climate change that the society at large has created, and we cannot have renewable energy that violates human rights. Statkraft and other owners must take their responsibility and demand a solution in the Fosen case. This is crucial so that green energy is developed in the right way in the future without encroaching on the rights of the indigenous people. Let’s stand in solidarity with the young Sámi who are fighting for their basic human rights.
