The epic centrepiece of Takashi Murakami’s @村上隆 new exhibition at the Asian Art Museum @asianartmuseum in San Francisco, ‘Judgement Day’ was created in just a few weeks and incorporates ukiyo-e motifs for the first time.
Measuring 25m in length and brimming with folkloric detail, the master work is an unravelling composition of classical figures, monsters and beings in various states of being ‘monsterized’, in keeping with the show’s theme, which hones in on the artist’s use of monsters throughout his career.
