London's Metropolitan Police said it has launched an investigation into allegations of "non-recent" sexual offenses in the United Kingdom, after a joint investigation by British media outlets revealed that the comedian Russell Brand was accused of rape and sexual assault.

Brand has publicly denied the allegations and accused the UK government of trying to censor him.
