On Sept. 24, 1967, the famed scientist Dian Fossey began her groundbreaking study of the little known yet highly endangered mountain gorillas in Africa. This moment is something we commemorate each year on World Gorilla Day 🦍🌍

Since it's establishment in 2017 World Gorilla Day has played the important role of raising the profile of the two species of gorilla and the threats they face in the wild.

Gorilla's face a number of threats in the wild in particular habitat loss from mining for the mineral colton which is found in mobile phones and laptops.
