Hey everybody, @dylanjg here again. I’m a printmaker and illustrator based in Brooklyn, NY.

Here’s the initial sketch and final seven layer screen print of “Fountain Dogs” I created last summer. I came up with the idea while on a bike ride through Central Park. It was a hot summer day and there were tons of dogs playing and swimming in the iconic Bethesda Fountain. The composition and corner vignettes were inspired by all the awesome stone carvings along the staircases leading down to the fountain.

For a lot of my work, I’ll carve a larger woodblock to create the line work and then scale that down to a more manageable and frame-friendly size for a color screen print edition.
