The experience I had serving in Uganda had eternal transformative power within my life. In America, it’s so easy to be consumed by the self-centered, pleasure seeking cultural norms that give us temporary highs and empty fulfillment. Our desire for material gain, status, and power have resulted in ourselves becoming the biggest idol in our lives.
The encouragement is to follow in the steps of Jesus who reversed the values by teaching that the first shall be last and the last shall be first. Greatness is measured by one’s willingness to serve others rather than your power, wealth, or status. Let the 'Why' in what we do be a reflection of Him who showed us the power of altruism.
