This is the exact competition top and number, in the exact same position I wore it 7 years ago, when I won gold. I haven’t actually looked at it since then if I’m honest. 7 years isn’t usually a significant milestone but it is for me. 7 years of being uncomfortable with being successful, questioning whether I was good enough to continue, whether there was a place for me here in high level sport and whether I was deserving of it all. 7 years of constantly chasing what I thought a gold medallist should look like, act like and sound like. It’s been 7 Years since I’ve enjoyed this sport for more than the medals. This years World Champs campaign gave me a lifeline in a sport that I thought I may never reach my full potential in. It’s allowed me to take up the space that has always been mine, I was just too scared to fill it. Today, exactly 7 years since I wore it, I look back at this crop top and number and see the day my life changed for the better - the opportunities its given me, the people I’ve met and the places I’ve been, it’s all part of my story, and actually, it’s the most memorable part of it all. Thank you to the Anna from 7 years ago, who put her self out there and flew just a little bit further than anyone else, I couldn’t be more proud of us, its just taken me 7 years to see it.
