At least 16 people were killed and more 30 were injured in a Russian aerial attack on a shopping district in the eastern city of Kostyantynivka.⁠

It was the worst such attack in recent weeks and a fresh sign that Russia is singling out towns near the front lines used by both civilians and Ukrainian soldiers.⁠

Ukraine’s interior minister announced the end of search-and-rescue efforts on Wednesday, saying 17 people were killed. Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs revised the death toll to 16 the following morning, after this video was posted.

The attack came as Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Ukraine on Wednesday to signal the U.S.’s continuing support for the Ukrainian war effort.⁠
