Here are three stories that made me feel hopeful for the future. They reminded me that innovation and positive change are always happening around us.

🌵 Two friends created leather out of cactus, in turn saving 1 billion animals from being killed for the sake of fashion. Adrian and Marte, who are based out of Mexico, call this vegan leather “Desserto” and it is shocking how similar it looks and feels to real leather “without harming the environment or animals in the process.”— a creative and thrilling discovery that will make the fashion industry more humane and sustainable.

🐻 Two men who served nearly 17 years in prison after being wrongly convicted of attempted murder after a 2004 shooting were declared innocent. Under a new law in California, the state is required to pay them each $140 for every day they spent behind bars—never enough, but at least establishing consequences for grave injustices in our penal system. 🍌France becomes the first country to pass a law prohibiting food waste by supermarkets, making it mandatory for all its supermarkets to give away the unsold food to those in need. Let’s go World! Let’s all do this!
