Titled ‘Seoul Home/Seoul Home/Kanazawa Home/Beijing Home/Pohang Home/Gwangju Home/Philadelphia Home’, the work was created in 2012. Using translucent silk, this piece faithfully recreates the architectural details of the artist’s family’s traditional ‘hanok’ house. The work’s title is extended with every location it is exhibited as a play on site-specificity. The @PhilaMuseum presentation is part of the group exhibition ‘The Shape of Time: Korean Art after 1989’.
