Today is #nationaldogday! A wonderful way to celebrate the love of our furry family members is by giving back to rescue dogs in need like sweet baby Macie here 💛

After enduring unspeakable horrors during her first year of life where she was force-fed rat poison, sweet puppy Marcie was dumped on the doorstep of a local pet business, covered in scars and old wounds from being repeatedly tortured. Shortly after her arrival, Marcie became life-threateningly ill, and it was discovered that her cruel abuser had force-fed her rat poison in an attempt to end her life.

Marcie will remain in the hospital for several days before we can say for sure that she is out of the woods. The antidote for rat poison is Vitamin K, which she has already started taking. The total estimated cost of Marcie’s care is $4,000. While this is a large sum, no amount is too great a price to pay if it means saving Marcie’s life.

Incidentally, Marcie’s survey X-rays also showed multiple metallic pellets (BB bullets) under her skin. Our hearts hurt thinking about the torment she and her brothers were subjected to.

Marcie did not deserve the hand she was dealt, and we have no doubt that we have only scratched the surface of the horrors she has lived through, but we are hopeful that brighter days are ahead for this sweet girl.
