Coming into this year as a whole I felt vulnerable. Olympic qualification, mid season cut, final 5. It’s crazy how your whole year can come down to one heat. And you just gotta go out there and perform. I kept reminding myself to not to base my happiness on results and to keep having fun because that’s when I surf my best anyways. Seeing waves like Teahupo’o and Pipe on the schedule is so cool because barreling waves over a shallow reef is an area of my surfing I really want to improve on. It’s been inspiring to see how much all the women have progressed in waves of consequence & I know it’ll just keep getting better. I just kept thinking to myself “ I just wanna put on a good performance and the rest will take care of its self”. Now I’ll be heading into Lowers with the #3 fighting for a world title. Thank you to the people of Tahiti for welcoming us to your beautiful island. To my family, you all are the best support crew, so thank you. @lukeegan for being in my corner.
