TOKiMONSTAさんのインスタグラム写真 - (TOKiMONSTAInstagram)「I want to thank everyone far and wide for showing me support on my previous post. We opened up a larger dialogue on the difficulties of being a professional on social media. It’s a sub-issue under the wider umbrella of distress triggered by social media overall. I think the biggest take away is how many of us creators (big and small) feel pressure and suffocation by social media. By creators, I don’t mean “content” creators, I mean artists, professionals, individuals who have a lot meaningful things they want to share. Are we posting too much or too little? Do we need to use trendy audio? The part that gets me, personally, is how musicians feel as though they need to be “seen” on a photography app (that’s what IG originally was). We start to conflate visibility on this app (and others) as a sign of success when in real life it doesn’t, necessarily. Success on social media doesn’t equate to success in real life. Likes on this app, doesn’t mean a person will switch apps to go listen to your music. That’s another disappointing truth. Whichever way we intellectualize it, diminishing numbers still hurts. We turn inward and create self doubt: “Is there something wrong with me?” “Is what I have to share not engaging?” “I have these followers, but my messages aren’t being shared.” “Do they not care about my art/message/profession anymore?” No, there’s nothing wrong with you. This is the conondrum. I am a musician and I just want my music to be heard—not for my entire life to be seen. I love sharing my musical life and the many moments that are shared with you at concerts, festivals etc. We all don’t love feeling forced to share esp when we feel vulnerable and need a moment to hide. It becomes a constant battle to be self assured with who you are and what you do. We have to remind ourselves not to do things we don’t want to do. Otherwise we become inauthentic just to keep engagement up, which weirdly keeps your engagement down bc everyone knows you’re not being real. (continued in comments)」8月10日 1時52分 - tokimonsta
