After this episode launched, a woman named Sam commented, “As one of a few active, female certified coaches and refs in the central region of USSS, your mom’s little interview about how they can do, and it doesn’t need to be a male dominated coaching sport was much appreciated.” When Karin joined the team, I shared my thoughts about wanting to put a bigger spotlight on female coaches. Today, this sentiment is truer than ever. I’ve accomplished a lot, but maybe in this stage of my career I can give other female ski coaches more of a visual of something to strive for. Everybody talks about legacy or asks what I want to accomplish in the final years of my career. This coaching decision was something that got my wheels turning. This feels important.
