I shaved off 3 min & 20 seconds in 12 days from my first attempt w/ @geigercoaching. That means I’ve qualified for both Deka Strong (snagged the WR) & Deka Mile, and I just have Deka Fit to go.   These races are all similar in that the 10 stations of functional fitness stay the same, just the running in between increases. You’d think you can race them relatively the same way, but pacing changes entirely as running is added into the mix. I learned that on my first Deka Mile attempt. It’s an art of knowing when to push and pull back, and you can only figure it out through the actual act of racing.   Knowing your body thoroughly and being able to control it down to the finest details.. that is where you separate yourself from the rest. The pursuit of self mastery.   It takes time & self awareness. Intense training sessions (often alone). No music. No distractions. Lots of questions. And the will to go the distance. It’s going to hurt sometimes. And that’s okay.
