Investigators have revealed how they built a case against the suspect charged in the notorious cold case known as the Gilgo Beach murders. The string of killings on New York's Long Island had for years sparked conflicting theories about whether a serial killer was responsible, ever since the sets of at least 10 human remains were discovered starting in 2010.

Rex Heuermann was charged by a grand jury with six counts of murder in connection with the deaths of three women, and police have said he's the prime suspect in the disappearance and death of a fourth woman. Heuermann has pleaded not guilty.
