7月13日本日はあいにくの雨ですが、京都の街中は祇園祭ムードに包まれています。
京都の夏の風物詩である祇園祭では、7月10日から2年ぶりに「山鉾建て」が行われ、前祭にあわせて23基の山や鉾が建てられます。
四条通りをはじめ周辺の通りには山鉾が建ち並び、お囃子が聞こえてくるなか、それぞれの鉾や山の壮麗華美な懸装品を間近で見るなど周辺を歩くだけで祇園祭を感じられます。
ホテルからは、地下鉄で20分ほどで四条駅に到着します。

応仁の乱以前に起源をもち、くじ取らずの鉾として長刀鉾に次いで鉾二番に巡行し、鉾櫓、屋根の規模で最大級の鉾の一つで、拝観搭乗も可能です。

The city of Kyoto is in the mood for the Gion Festival.
On July 10, the Gion Festival, one of the most popular summer festivals in Kyoto, held its first "Yamahoko-Tate" in two years, with 23 floats and mountains erected in conjunction with the previous festival.
Yamahoko floats line Shijo-dori Avenue and other streets in the area, and while you hear the music, you can feel the Gion Festival just by walking around the area and seeing the magnificent and gorgeous decorations of each of the floats and mountains up close.
From the Westin Miyako Kyoto, it is a 20-minute subway ride to Shijo Station.

The photo shows Kankoboko, east of Shijo Muromachi.
It is one of the largest floats and is open for viewing and boarding.
